Floriography Spring Project - more info
Join us on a creative journey though a summer season project where you’ll learn to draw & paint flowers as well as learning what each flower represents. This project includes some core Nature Journaling techniques as well as folklore / stories associated to a range of wild flowers that grow in the Surrey Area.
Project content:
Cycle 1 : Colour focus - Yellow and white flowers | Stitchwort, Dandelion, Lily of the Valley, Wild Garlic | Getting started with Nature Journaling, Free writing & page layout, Painting stems leaves & buds in watercolour, Learning about flower head shapes, Dandelion watercolour painting, Bell Shaped flowers (Campanulate), Lily of the Valley watercolour experiments, Lily of the Valley Watercolour study.
Cycle 2: Colour focus - Pink, Purple and Red | Red Campion, Clover, Chive flowers, Buttercups, Rose and Poppy | Making pretty borders for your pages, Buttercup sketching and painting, Clover watercolour painting, Colour mixing and matching exercises, Drawing with the brush - petal shapes, Red Campion watercolour study, Chive flower painting, Poppy painting in watercolour.
Cycle 3: Colour focus - Blues and Purples | Cornflowers, Nigella, Lavender, Purple Toadflax | Journaling exercise on abundance, Nigella watercolour study, Leaf typology and arrangement, Leaf shapes, Leaf painting ‘drawing with the brush’ style, Painting lavendar in watercolour, Painting Purple Toadflax in watercolour, Paitning Cornflowers in Watercolour.
Each of the above are double cycles - so 90 minutes per cycle.
There is an additional cycle included at the end of this project which covers Composition and some development ideas!
Materials used in this project (not included in project price): Size 1 Rigger Brush, Size 6 round synthetic brush, 300 GSM watercolour paper, Octopus Sketchbook, 0.5 Fineliners, 12 pan palette watercolour set. White gouache.
