Sunflowers in Watercolour - Botanical Painting Workshop

Calling all sun-seekers this summer - create your own sunshine as you learn to paint stunning Sunflowers in full bloom!

Saturday 10th August 2024 | 10:30 to 13:00 | Surrey Art School, RH5 5DL

Here comes the Sun…

Join Ellie for a soothing and summer inspired 2.5 hour Botanical Painting workshop where she will guide you step by step through the process of creating your own Sunflower painting.

You’ll begin with learning some ‘drawing with the brush’ techniques - creating the shapes of beautiful radiant petals using simple brush strokes.

We’ll then work with wet on wet watercolour techniques and some rather unusual tools to create the furry texture of our seeded suns.

We’ll spend the first half of the morning exploring all the core elements of the Sunflower including petals, leaves, that thick stem and textured core.. Working layer by layer to add depth and detail to our paintings.

And in the second half of of the workshop we’ll create a more developed response to our sunny subjects, working with much thicker paper with more of a ‘tooth’.

You can expect a very gentle, beginner-kind morning in the studio making our own sunshine, whatever the weather…

All materials, a wide of selection of teas, local coffee & sweet treats are all included in this workshop. More info & booking below…
