Learn to Weave (Beginners Workshop)

Start your weaving journey with the wonderful Susannah Bolton this season where she will be teaching you all you need to know to get to know your loom.

You'll be working with stunning hand-made notched lap looms and will learn all about the anatomy of the loom before planning a small tapestry and starting to weave.

Susannah will be providing an extensive range of yarns including some beautiful and rare vintage tweed wools and silks!

Join us in the woods for our first collaboration with SALT BOX!

We’re combining art and food for a morning beneath the trees at SALT BOX’s new woodland home at the beautiful Priory Farm, followed by a seasonal feast inspired by seasonal, local ingredients.

Each week we will work on a different aspect of art practice and fill our sketchbooks with creative experiments. You will be given a sketchbook with your first class and our skills based sessions will improve your technical skill and inspire new ways of working that harness confidence and creativity. No pressure, lots of laughter and plenty of time to reflect on the week.

Ebru - also known as cloud-painting for the way that the paint clouds as it spreads across the water - is an ancient art-form originating in Turkey and dating back to as early as the 15th Century. Of course we’ll be adding a contemporary twist to the outcomes we produce, but the rest of the experience will be as authentic as it gets folks!

Linoleum is one of the most versatile materials for creating a long-lasting print block. During this workshop you'll explore the range of options available for designing and carving a print block - exploring not only carving techniques, but how to get the most out of both the positive and negative space in your design.
